Things I think about before I go to sleep

  • I like to decorate my bathrooms in a striped theme (thats right I said bathrooms, I have 2, and that makes me feel fancy)

  • I can't believe that Kam and I did all our Christmas shopping in one day. And that I have all of the presents wrapped

  • I drove to San Diego on Monday and I am ridiculously proud of my self for driving on the 5 and the 15 and downtown with a lot of one way streets.

  • I am really dreading the snow in Malad

  • I feel completely shut off from the world because I don't have my phone.

  • It was 70 degrees yesterday and I wanted to go to the beach.

  • When Zulu sit still she looks like a stuffed animal because her fur is so long

  • I want to make gingerbread houses and sugar cookies when we are in Malad

  • I want a dyson vacuum

  • The only good thing about the drive to Malad is that I get to use my kindle.

It's Christmas time!

So I have been a slacker and blogging. I don't know why because I am home all day so I have plenty of time to do it. So here is my almost New Years resolution-I will blog at least once a week. Starting now. So here is what has been going on with us.

Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving we stayed in California and went to our friends, T.J. and Brittany, house. They had invited some single Marines that Brittany works with. I was in charge of pies, rolls, and cornbread. For the first time in my life(maybe not the first time, but definitely in the top 5) I felt like a grown-up because I was responsible for bringing food to a holiday dinner. So I made 4 homemade* pies. Feel free to tell me how awesome I am for doing that. I made Chocolate, Apple, Banana, and Pumpkin. The cornbread was also homemade and the rolls were Pillsbury. It was a good dinner and we had a lot of fun. After dinner we played rockband for hours. We didn't take home any leftovers because we let the single Marines take the leftovers back to the barracks. We are so giving. * the pie crusts were store bought, because it is crazy to make those

Black Friday

I was dreading Black Friday because I didn't want to deal with all the craziness. But Kamas was excited because he loves a good deal. So to solve this dilemma it was decided that I would go home and Kamas would stay at T.J. and Brittanys. Then Kam and T.J. would get and brave the crowds. This worked out great for everyone. I got to sleep in and Kamas got a sweet deal on a printer and T.J. and Britt got to come over for breakfast.

New Moon

I drug Kamas to New Moon the night it opened. I bought my tickets online a few days before and we still had to wait in line for an hour to get into the theater. The movie was pretty sweet. Just for the record I'm team Jacob.

Weekend Adventures

We have been going out with friends or by ourselves pretty much ever weekend Kamas has been home. It has been a lot of fun. We love to go to movies and out to dinner. We have had a few cookouts with friends. Going bowling on base it pretty sweet because none of us is very good.

Trees for Troops

Once again this year I did the whole stand in line at the butt crack of dawn to get a free Christmas tree thing. Fed Ex gives out free real trees to Marine families every year. To get one you have to get up really early and stand in line to get a ticket for a tree. They hand out tickets at 7:30 a.m. I was in line at 6:10 and I was number 110. They give out about 900 trees. This year was fun because I conned my friend Tiffany into going with me. While we were waiting for the trees to arrive we entered drawings and we both won a set of ornaments. We climbed a rock wall, got a free toothbrush, a gift card for a free shake at Jonny Rockets and free mints. All before noon.
Job
So I got a job with the after School program here in Fallbrook. I will be working with 4th-6th graders before and after school. I will be helping them with homework and organizing games and such. However I won't start working for a while because I have to have a background check and drug tests and all that jazz. So I am waiting for a call to set up those appointments. Hopefully by Feb will start working.
Christmas Parade
We once again went to the Fallbrook Christmas Parade this year and invited some friends to watch it with us. This year we were way more prepared with chairs and coats and blankets and hot chocolate. It was a good time. I only took 3 pictures and I can't find the camera I took them with so no pictures. The parade lasted about an hour and a half. There were lots of classic cars and dancers and horses and school bands and such. After the parade everyone came back to our apartment and we grilled hamburgers and hot dogs. Then we played my favorite game Discombobulation. We ended the night with brownies and ice cream.
Church Calling
We have only been in Fallbrook since October and I already have a church calling. They don't wast any time here. I am the CTR 6 primary teacher. So far it has been good. I only have boys in my class and they are pretty funny. So far I have only had 3 kids in my class so that has made it pretty easy.
I think that is all that has been going on. We have been slackers with our picture taking. Hence the lack of pictures for this post. Kamas and I have yet to start our Christmas shopping and we only have one weekend to do it before we head for Idaho. Wish us luck.

The Ball

The Marine Corp Birthday Ball was last Wednesday, November the 4th, which is weird because the real birthday of the Marine corp is on November 10th. Anyway the ball was at the Pechenga Indian Casio and Resort in Temecula. It was a good time and for once the food was good. The past 2 balls I have been to the food is not so good. This year was a lot of fun because we were at a table with a lot of friends and they were pretty funny. The table ended up being divided into to sides. The Mexicans and the Mormons. The Mormon side was told that there was milk to drink if we wanted to come to an after party. But we declined :) It was a fun night even though we didn't win anything at the raffel this year. Now here are some pictures not in any real order.

The past few weeks

Here are the pictures of Kamas coming home. The wind was blowing that day, hence the hair in my face, but these are the pictures we have of us that day. We dont know what is going on in the second picture. We only have these two pictures because Kamas was eager to get back to the hotel. After all he had been gone for 7 months.

Here is a cute picture of us with no wind and we are both looking at the camera. We are at our nephews baptizim in Malad.

While we were in Malad Kamas decided that I should have a pistol of my own. So we bought me a Springfield XD in a .40 cal. It is a sub-compact which means that it has a smaller barrel so I can put it in my purse :). And it is really fun to shot. We also did a little trap shooting with Kamas's family. I am hard core as you can tell from these pictures.

The first picture shows what can happen in you mount a scope too too far back. When the gun recoils the scope will hit you in the head. So let this be a warning to everyone on the that dangers of scopes, not guns, just scopes. In the second picture Kam is shooting his "sinper" rifle ( the one with the dangerous scope). Apparently you have to be laying down to shot this gun and if you a super prepared you happen to have a piece of carpet with you so you don't have to lay on the rocks. The last picture is Kam shooting one of his pistols. He was trying to look hard core like me.

So now you have seen an overview of the past couple weeks of our lives. Tomorrow we leave for Washington D.C. for a week. Yes we are that cool.

Holy Crap

So I am sitting here at midnight just chillin on the internet, you know checkin up what people are doing, and suddenly it hits me that Kam is coming home. Soon. I was on myspace and saw that one of his friends just got home and that is when it hit me. It now seems like it is really happening. I can't and won't tell you when he will be home. First because I don't have an exact date and second security reasons. Now that I look back at the summer it seems like time has gone by fast and slow all at the same time. So now I will tell you some of the non-obvious (sp)reasons I am excited to have Kam home
  1. I hate driving and Kamas likes to drive
  2. Someone else can take Zulu out to the bathroom
  3. He can wash the car and truck about a million times better than I can
  4. He will kill spiders
  5. He likes to cook
  6. He helps with laundry-kind of (he will only fold his own clothes)
  7. We will be back in California!
  8. When I wear high-hills I can hold on to him so I don't fall
  9. He loves going to movies as much as I do
  10. He can carry the heavy groceries

And of course I am excited to have him home for the obvious reasons, but I won' t list those because I want to keep this post PG.

One small thing I am not excited for-moving

So I suck at Blogging

As the title says I have sucked at blogging for the past few months. So here is the update. I am working at Thomas Market again this summer. I guess its not too bad for a few more months. It looks like I will be staying in Malad till October which kind of sucks. Kamas is doing good and is pretty busy right now. He got promoted to Corpral finally! It was a long time coming and we are so glad that is has finally happened. In other news I have started the HCG diet and it is working wonderfully. I started at 155 pounds and I am now down to 144. I still have about 14 more pounds to lose I guess I will keep on truckin. Zulu is good and is starting to listen to me a little better. But she is cute so I guess I will keep her. That is about all that is going on in our lives. Sorry for no pictures but I am lazy and don't want to wait for them to download. But hey, at least I blogged.

I am moving back to Cali until July. It's either that or a weekend in Vegas :)

No Snow for Me

So it has been about a month since Kam has left. It still pretty much sucks having him gone. I think of a million things to say to him through out the day and then when we talk its like I have gone brain dead. I am hard pressed for conversation. I'm not sure why this is but I find it pretty annoying. Also if you know Kam he hates talking on the phone, but luckily we have webcams. So he is a little more inclined to talk if I can see him. Also I can tell when he is distracted and then I put him in his place. I remind him that he should be talking to his awesome wife and not checking his email :)

As for me I am a substitute teacher for elementary, middle school, and the high school. I usually sub 2 days a week. It is good for right now. In June I will be joining Team Thomas again. I could be working there right now but that would be more fun than I can handle at the moment. Zulu is pretty much potty trained now. She and Nitro are best friends and play all the time. I am so ready for summer. I told my family that if it snows again will be moving back to Cali until July.

The past 4 weeks

So the past 4 weeks have been a bit crazy. We came home leave to visit the fams. On our way home we got a puppy. She is a Mini schnauzer named Zulu. Then we went back to Cali for a week to pack up our apt and put everything in storage. Kamas left on the 15th. I moved back in with my parents while Kamas is gone. Since I have been home I have been subbing at the Elementary, Middle, and High School. I also have been potty training my puppy. Here are some pictures. I forgot my camera the day Kamas left so I don't have any pictures of that.

Just Stuff

So these next couple weeks are going to be crazy. We are getting a puppy on Saturday on our way home to visit the fam for a week. When we get back to Cali we will be packing up our apartment and sending Kamas off. Not really looking forward to that. Things have been pretty quite here. I should be packing things up and getting ready for our trip home, but once I start it will make it all seem too real. I keep thinking that I have done this before it shouldn't be as hard as the first time. One posative thing is that Kam is not as stressed as he was last year because he knows whats going on and what he needs to pack. That makes things easier. The days are going by way too fast. Anyway time to stop feeling sorry for my self and do what needs to be done.

p.s. I made mini blueberry muffins one morning and I was very proud of them

Valentines Weekend

Last weekend Kam's friends Matt, Kendall, and Wacey came to visit us.They stayed from Friday to Monday. They wanted to see Kam before he leaves. They stayed with us in out tiny apartement. It was pretty fun and not nearly as bad as I thought it would be sharing a bathroom with four boys. We did some fun stuff, the first night they were here we went to a movie and out to eat. We went to Ruby's that is on the end of the pier. However it was raining and it is a long walk so we all were soaked.

Saturday morining Kam woke up early and went to the store to get me flowers for Valentines, then we went to an indoor go-cart place and raced each other. That was a lot of fun because the go-carts go 40-45 mph. I threatened the boys with bodily harm if they bumbed me while we were racing. They avoided me. We ate lunch and BS'ed for and hour and a half. Later that day we went to visit our Aunt and Uncle, we talked to them for a few hours and ate pizzia with them. Needless to say it wasn't that romantic, so this weekend we are going on a late Valentines date.

Sunday they boys decided to put a leveling kit on Kam's truck. There is a place on base that will let you use tools and a lift for $5 an hour. They are all mechanics so they said it would take only 20 minutes. That was a lie it took 2 and a half hours! I occasonaly ran the lift but most of the time I had nothing to do but wait. But they finally got it on and so far the truck hasn't fallen apart.
Monday we didn't do much. Wacey wanted to go to Arbys the whole time they were here so we finally went on Monday. We stopped at the Mall for a few minutes and just hung out at the Apartment untill they left. So hopefully everyone had a good time.

Things I will not do In 2009

I am stealing this Idea from a random blog that I happened upon today. I have no idea who these people were. Sometimes I just rummage through the blogging world and see what is out there. Anyway back to the list, instead of making new years resoultions these are things I will not be doing:

  1. Give up Dr. Pepper, sometimes it is the only thing that will make me happy
  2. Exorsising daily, It may happen a few times a week or not at all and I am ok with that
  3. Stop reading for 2+ hours a day, I love it
  4. Stop saying Damit, I believe it is the least offensive swear word and I like to say it
  5. Learn to drive on the 5, for those of you who don't live in Cali, it is 8 lanes of craziness
  6. Stop threating my husband with bodily harm, I like to think I am tough
  7. Stop eating at the drive-in
  8. Worryin about my spellin errors on my blog
  9. Learn to text with both thumbs, it is re-donk-u-las
  10. Stop eating bread
  11. Deleat my myspace page, even though I hardly ever update things on it

This is way better than having to follow a list of things to do.

Pros and Cons of Living by a Marine Corps Base

Cons

  1. Living so far away from family ( this has been revised thanks to Emily)
  2. The traffic is rediculous
  3. You hear helicopters at lest once every hour
  4. Every once in a while a helicopter sounds like it is going to land on the roof of your apartment
  5. Then the car alarms go off and if this happens in the middle of the night it takes forever for people to turn them off
  6. There really is no excuse not to go to the gym because it it free
  7. You have to show you ID at the gate
  8. You never know your neighboors because people move every few months
  9. The commisary is always busy no matter what time of day

Pros

  1. You can go to the gym for free
  2. You can shop on base
  3. The commisary is tax free
  4. You never know your neighboors because they move every few months
  5. The Exchange
  6. Most Christmas shoppin can be done on base
  7. It is the only place in California that people actually obey the speed limit
  8. People think it is cool

Feel free to comment and yes I realize that I used some of the reasons twice

Batting Cages and Miniture Golf

We have recently discovered an amazing new place called Boomers. It has go-carts, miniture golf, batting cages, arcaed games, and lazer tag. We first went there last weekend with Brittney and TJ and played Mini golf. I was awesome and got 2 holes in one. Yes, I am that good. Then we went to the go-carts and Kamas asked if I wanted to drive and I told "sure" aparently he didn't think I would want to and was just asking to be nice. Needless to say I sat in the passanger seat and Kamas drove. Then I spotted the batting cages. I was really excited because I love to play softball. Kam and I decided to hit a few. However I didn't read the sign and I was trying to hit a baseball at 70 mph with a 20 pound bat. The girl at the counter must have thought that I was freakishly strong. I am not. It was fun and the next day I was really sore. Then on Monday Kamas gets home from work and after about an hour he decides he is board and wants to go back to Boomers to the batting cages. This time I read the sign for softball and had a normal sized bat. But it was slow pitch softball. Anyway it was fun to go out and do something different for a change.

Superbowl Sunday!

This is Beast, I drove his car.
Today we went to our friends house to watch the superbowl. It was the people that Kamas works with in his shop. We were suppose to be there at noon sharp but we were a little late. I took Oreo dessert and everyone loved it. They loved it so much that there was a small fight for the last piece. The BBQ chicken was the best I have ever had. It was a good time to hang out and watch the comercials. The game wasn't too bad either. The high light of the night was when I drove a convertable owned by a big black man named Beast. He had partaken in alcholic beverages so I was the DD. It was a pretty awesome day.

San Diego

Today we went to San Diego to the Air and Space Museum with T.J. and Brittney. It was neat to look around but we only stayed for about an hour. Then we drove over the Coronado bridge to eat lunch. Then we went to Horton Plaza which is a giant mall in the gaslamp district of San Diego and watched Mall Cop. I wasn't that impressed with the movie. And sorry to tell you that we forgot our camera so no pictures of our adventure today.

So this is off the subject but every once in a while when we walk into our Apartment is smells like someone has spilled nail polish remover. We figure the smell is comming throught the vents but there is really nothing we can do about it. Also our bathroom smells sweet/smokey or as some people describe it like copenhagen. Once again the smell is probably comming through the vents and nothing we can do about it. These are my pet peves for the past month, but we will be moving in about a month and a half so we will just live through it.

The Holidays

We were able to go to Malad for Christmas. It was fun to be with all the family. We were home for about a week. Unfortunatly we had to drive instead of fly. But it turned out ok. We spent Christmas eve at the annual Daniels Family Christmas party. It was a good time. Christmas morning was at the Reels house. We had to wait a while to open presents because Kamas and Trevor went into town to get Gavin from his moms house. But it was snowing like crazy and it took a while to get into town and then on the way out they stopped to try and help someone stuck in the snow. After trying for an hour they couldn't get the guy out of the snow bank so he called his family to come and get him. After we opened presents Kam and I headed into my parents house for Christmas Dinner. Only a few people were able to make it because everyone else was snowed in. But it was a good time.

For New Years we went to Las Vegas with Brittney and TJ. We stayed for 2 nights. It was fun and a little crazy. The strip on New Years Eve was pretty crazy and packed there was hardly any room move. Needless to say there were a lot of drunk people. The next day we met up with Matt, Kendall, Wendy, and their friends. We went to the Mall and then rode the rides on top of the Stratosphere. We rode the Big shot and Insanity. They were fun but also way scary. I was a good time. But I am glad to be home.
